Birth Weight!

We took Lilly for a weight check yesterday and she is officially back up to her birth weight (and a little more)!!! YAY :) We are giving her the high calorie formula mixture when we supplement, which appears to be helping. You wouldn't think that an extra 4 calories would make that big of a difference, huh? She is also starting to fill out some newborn clothes -- who would have thought that RJ and I would make a baby that needed preemie clothes? She is so precious and we just love her to pieces. She seems so delicate! It is amazing how they are already different babies! Lilly absolutely loves to be swaddled and cuddled. You couldn't keep Caroline in a swaddle! We started calling her Houdini because she got out of everything. Even those blankets made especially for swaddling that have the little arm holes and velcro. Lilly will take or leave a pacifier, not a huge deal. When Caroline was 2 weeks old, RJ had to literally hold the pacifier in her mouth to get her to go to sleep. And she wasn't too fond of the bassinet for the first few weeks. Lilly doesn't care where she is, she will sleep. The moses basket, the bouncy seat, the bassinet. And I love that when Lilly is having a hard time going to sleep, I can hold her for about 2 minutes, very close to me, and she falls asleep. She looks so peaceful! And when you put her down, she actually stays asleep. Don't get me wrong...Lilly still has very large sister shoes to fill. Miss Caroline slept through the night at 5 weeks and hasn't really looked back! And so far, everyone says that Lilly is going to look like me. So far...her face is a different shape than Caroline's. Caroline's is like perfectly round, big chubby cheeks, pouty lips and the biggest crystal blue eyes you have ever seen. Lilly has a slim oval face, almond shaped eyes and thin lips, like me. And her eyes are a deeper blue. We were looking back at pictures of Caroline at this age and her eyes were already turning lighter. Who knows...they could both end up looking like their daddy! Just fine with me :) These are just a few observations so far. We are going to try and take an announcement-worthy picture this weekend, with her eyes open (at the request of my mom). We'll see how that goes!

We are also getting on a better "schedule" now and things are feeling more manageable. The last 4 days both girls have napped at the same time - yay :) I know most toddlers Caroline's age are down to one afternoon nap a day, but she just can't go that long. Around 10:30 - 11:00 she needs to go to her crib, whether she wants to or not. Otherwise late morning/lunch are miserable for both of us. She gets super fussy and ends up having a fit over lunch. NOT GOOD. So the last few days have been better. And although she might put up a fight at first, she usually ends up sleeping (knock on wood). She has been sleeping for about 2 hours at this point. Normally I would be resting as well, but the lock on our back door is no longer in existence (long story) and I am waiting for our builder to come fix it!
